On a warm, summer Florida day, there was an old man that decided to take a stroll on the beach the morning after a storm.

As he started his journey, he noticed a small boy off in the distance picking up starfish and tossing them back to sea. The beach became littered with these creatures from the storm the night before.

One by one, this young child picked up each starfish with care, wished it luck then threw it back into the wild blue where they were safe.

With intrigue, the old man went up to the boy and asked, “Good morning. May I ask what you’re doing?

The boy responded, “I’m throwing starfish back into the ocean. The tide brought them up here; and if someone doesn’t help them, then they’ll surely die,” the young boy paused. “They need my help!”

As the old man stared, the young boy continued. After a moment of silence, the man replied, “But don’t you see how many there are? You’ll never be able to help them all. I’m afraid you’re not making much of a difference.”

The young child became concerned. He couldn’t understand why the old man didn’t see, so he decided to show him.

On his way, the child picked up the next starfish in need. He placed it in the old man’s hand and said. “Throw it—because it matters to this one!”

Lesson Learned: What it means for us

At Accident Cleaners, we know that cleaning up after a crime scene may not always be an ideal job… And I’m not going to lie, sometimes it can be downright tough! But when a storm passes and a family is affected, we know that we need to do our part and clean up the mess.

At the end of the day, it’s about how we impact those around us, not necessarily how we affect everyone in this world. Since we are a Locally owned biohazard cleanup company, our main focus will always be on our community since Florida is where we call home- just like you.

It’s Not About the Numbers

Rather, it’s about the focus. We measure success based on whether the work we did made a difference to a family in need. We may not be able to stop the storm, and we may not be able to save every starfish on the shore; but when we the work we do means the world to someone, then that’s all that truly matters.
